[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]Vancouver, WA, October 24, 2011 – TNT Software, Inc., a leader in Windows event log management and real-time server monitoring solutions announced the new version of ELM Enterprise Manager is now publicly available. This release is packed with new features and ease of use enhancements that will benefit System Administrators and IT Managers.
ELM Enterprise Manager provides the power to monitor the health and status of distributed Windows servers and workstations, firewalls and network devices from a centralized location. With real-time monitoring, alerting, and reporting, ELM supports mission-critical business services, system uptime targets, and fortifies security policies.
“We’re very excited to release ELM Enterprise Manager 6.5,” commented Brent Skadsen, Vice President, Sales and Marketing. “The marquee feature of ELM 6.5 is a database schema overhaul. The preliminary statistics indicate a large increase in event data storage efficiency. Our existing users will see database growth reduction by over 50%. ELM has also been streamlined with improvements in product flow and ease of use. It is hands-down one of our most significant releases in 10 years.”
Key Features of ELM Enterprise Manager 6.5 include:
New Database Design
ELM Enterprise Manager 6.5 supports a highly normalized database design. The new schema focuses on reducing the storage requirement of the high-frequency security events. ELM 6.5 identifies redundant text and data and reuses it. This reduces the amount of storage space required for event data by over 50%.
New Licenses
New licenses introduced in ELM 6.5 are the Core license and Network license. Appropriately named, the event logs, perfmon data, service states and process information published by Windows operating systems provide the “Core” metrics for proactive management. TNT Software has also combined the most useful features for monitoring network devices such as firewalls, switches, hubs, routers and non-Windows systems into a lightweight, efficient Network license.
Notification Methods
Notification options are now based on Event Views to streamline and simplify alerting configurations. The basic premise is “what you see is what you get”. Each Event View has the option of assigning a Notification Method directly to it. For example, any event being displayed in that Event View (based on the Filter criteria) can launch an email message.
PowerShell Support
Microsoft PowerShell support has been added to ELM’s Command Script Notification. PowerShell provides full access to COM and WMI, enabling administrators to perform scripted tasks on both local and remote Windows systems.
Event Views, Wizards, and Dialogs
The ELM Enterprise Manager user experience has been evaluated from the top to the bottom. From monitoring to reporting an initiative to streamline, standardize, and consolidate has been started. This effort has led to a more linear product with less functional branching and duplications. It is easier to use and understand through the power of simplicity.
